When I first arrived in Melbourne, I didn’t know any English at all. No daily conversations, no classroom language, nothing felt familiar. It was a completely new country, a new language, and a journey that started from zero. For me, this experience wasn’t only about learning English, it was also about patience and stepping out of my comfort zone.

First Step: International House
I started my language education at International House Melbourne.
I studied here for 6 months at Beginner to Pre-Intermediate levels. This is where I learned my first words, built my first sentences, and experienced the hardest part of language learning: starting to speak.
At the beginning, everything felt slow. Speaking in class was difficult, and the fear of making mistakes was always there. Over time, that fear slowly turned into confidence. This was where I truly understood how much patience learning a language requires.
Continuing at the Original Campus
Later on, I moved to the Original Campus and studied there for 8 months at Intermediate to Advanced levels. At this stage, it was no longer just about vocabulary, it was about expressing yourself clearly.
Listening exercises, speaking tasks, and class discussions became much more intense. English slowly started to feel like a natural part of daily life.
Final Stage: ILSC Melbourne
For the final part of my journey, I studied Advanced level English for 2 months at ILSC Melbourne. Honestly, this was the best language learning experience I had in Melbourne.
If someone is coming to Melbourne specifically to learn English, ILSC is the school I would personally recommend. The teaching system, class structure, and overall environment were the most effective for me.
Excursions and School Life
Language schools weren’t limited to classroom learning. Through the schools, we joined excursions to museums, parks, BBQ events, and different parts of the city. These activities were called “excursions” and they were extremely helpful for both practicing English and connecting with people.

These activities made it possible to learn English not only from books, but by living it in real life.
Friendships
One of the most valuable things I gained during this journey was the friendships I built. I met people from many different countries and formed genuine, meaningful connections. Being surrounded by others who were going through the same challenges made the whole process much easier.

Graduation Moment
At the end of this long journey, graduation day finally arrived. Receiving my certificate was a moment that truly made all the effort feel worthwhile.

Learning a Language Is Not Easy
Learning English is not an easy process. Especially when starting from zero, it can feel challenging and exhausting at times. But with consistency, pushing yourself to speak, and not being afraid of making mistakes, progress becomes inevitable.
This language learning journey in Melbourne gave me more than just English, it also gave me confidence and resilience.
